SELF WRITTEN ARTIST BIO:
I find it hard to categorize myself into one type of artist because throughout my life I've explored so many different mediums and forms of art. This inability to stick to one medium is part of the reason for my love of photography. It's ONE medium I can stick to which allows me to explore so many others in depth. When it comes to my work I like to experiment with so many different methods, like mixed media, set design and post processing, along with collaborating with other artists whose work I think is great and correlates with mine in order to create the images I envision in my head. I often enjoy linking my work to my culture and its history. I feel like culture can be represented in so many ways through art (including photography) that it leaves an infinite amount of possibilities. I typically tend to work with color because I believe it can draw out so many emotions and visual keys but I also love the dramaticized feel of black and white and how it can draw your eyes to more than just the subject, with texture, detail and shapes. When it comes to a specific style I feel like I tend to just dabble in whatever I have available or whatever I feel like doing at the moment, I explore many different styles like street photography, commercial and editorial, fashion, and my passion for photography even started in sports which i think definitely influences my preference for natural unstaged fluid posing, i prefer to catch people in the midst of an action rather than an awkward forced pose. My favorite forms by far are editorial and commercial as there's so much that goes into creating a planned photograph while also trying to sell a story or create an idea, I look at people like jack bridgland, diego bendezu, david lachapelle, steven meisel and cho gi-seok, some of my favorite photographers and i see them almost as fabricators of stories in the way they set up their photos with sets, backgrounds, colors locations and feel. Along with this I love documentary photographers like Gary Winogrand who tends to have a visual key of real time moments/natural actions, and Jamel Shabazz who has such beautiful color work which really stands out from a far, these are some of my biggest inspirations when it comes to street work or even just visual aesthetics. And this is a short summary of who I am as an artist.
